If you deal with chronic pain (or PAIN, as I like to write it), you may feel like you live in a fog. It’s not a good place to be.

In 2008, a very capable neurosurgeon just about had me on the table for back surgery to deal with chronic pain from spinal misalignment, arthritis, and who knows what else. The pain medications didn’t touch it. I was living in a bed, in a fog for several weeks. I was frightened. How would I be able to work? I move my body for a living. And…I live to move my body! Just prior to this episode, I earned my Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Fast forward to July 2014. I participated in my first full Ironman Triathlon. Yup. 2.4 mile swim. 112 mile bike. 26.2 mile run. But how?

In short, surgery was not for me, I waited until, slowly I began to be able to move again. Over time, I discovered that when I STOP moving, I hurt.

I have been working Yoga Tune Up®, a program developed by Jill Miller. Yoga Tune Up (YTU) helps you live better in your body using a combination of yoga, corrective exercise, self-massage, breath strategies, mindset, and embodied anatomical education. You learn to awaken your body sense (proprioception) to help you find and heal your own body blind spots. Body blind spots are areas of your body that are overused, underused or misused, and can be a cause for aches, pains and injury.
